Regarding 64-bit-only Support

Post by tritium » 11 Feb 2019, 20:54

The 6.x.x.series of Sysrcd based on ArchLinux has 64-bit-only Support.

I do not know how difficult the following would be but would like to suggest:

Go back to pre-6.x.x approach of supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware. One of the things I have always liked about Sysrcd is its support for both, and while it may be true that 32-bit machines are dwindling, they still exist and in fact I myself have a 32-bit machine which I would like to be able to boot the LATEST Sysrcd, not just the 5.x.x series.

You can always use version 5.3.2 on older PCs.

All the x86 CPUs released in the past 10 years are fully x86-64 compatible, so I really doubt there's any sense in supporting an outdated architecture.
