CIFS mount does not work as documented

Postby ajax » 14 Dec 2013, 16:31

The documentation for System Rescue CD found at http://www.sysresccd.org/Sysresccd-manual-en_Network#Access_a_Share_on_a_Windows_computer_with_CIFS does not work.

The lfs (large file support) option, which the documentation says not to forget, is not found on the man page (mount.cifs) on my Version 3.8.1 CD. Furthermore, using it produces an error. I also get errors when I place the options after rather than before the device and directory attributes. On my NAS which is setup without username/password security I found the following will work:

mount -t cifs -o guest //192.168.0.n/directory /mnt/windows

Return to “System software”
