Autorun from device not following docs/examples

Postby giusepperagusa » 30 Oct 2013, 15:59

In latest Sysresccd (3.8.1) starting with ar_source=/dev/sdb (a USB key) the autorun script does not find /dev/sdb mounted at /mnt/autorun (nor at /var/autorun/mnt) during its execution, while it is expected to be so as per docs/examples at:

http://www.sysresccd.org/Sysresccd-manu ... th_autorun

Should improve my Python skills to debug further... ;>

Are you sure that the device dont use a partition table .... /dev/sdb1
Boot with the minishell option for manual testing.

Absolutely sure: it is a disk image (dd-created and FAT-32 formatted) remotely connected as a USB drive by means of HP iLO virtual media feature.

It otherwise manually mounts correctly from SysteRescueCD shell with:

mount /dev/sdb /mnt/backup

ar_source=/dev/sdb should work.
get you a error message?

Try to test the device manual:
mount /dev/sdb /mnt
ls -l /mnt/autorun*

Try to run "strace -f /usr/sbin/autorun", check it for errors.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

No error messages are shown (not any that I could notice, at least).

As I told in previous posts above, mounting manually from SystemRescueCD works perfectly.

Manually executing my autorun script (when manually mounted) works perfectly.

I could try with strace, but isn't there a better option (being /usr/sbin/autorun a Python script)?

Many thanks for your assistance.

you can add debug messages to the script.
Work autorun if you call
/etc/init.d/autorun start
