Today I finished setting up a PXE server at home and decided to add System Rescue CD to the available boot options. However I found that it wouldn't fetch the sysrcd.dat file over ftp and would only allow http, tftp, nfs, and nbd as options go get the file. I managed to resolve this myself by modifying the initrd's init script cater for netboot, ftpboot, bootftp options.
I just thought it was worth mentioning as it is a simple feature to implement; netboot over http utilizes wget to fetch the file which natively supports the ftp protocol anyway so was able to just point ftp to the same function; and modify it so it accepts ftp urls as well.
If required I could attach a diff of the modification that I made.
