In my personal opinion, a rescue tool should initialize (and later shut down) as few as possible, because if you need a rescue CD, something is probably broken. If the CD does its own standard procedure, it might possibly break even more.
Anyway, LVM shut down hangs on my system (never ends, needs hardware reset).

Post in this forum for problems at boot time, if there was no problem for burning the disc. For example can't find the CD, or strange errors when you press enter at the very first prompt.
