Please add some documentation on how to check for bad sectors on miss-behaving hard discs. My friend came yesterday with a Toshiba that went through a power shortage-induced shut down, and subsequently wouldn't boot Windows, its Recovery disc and even some Linux LiveCDs. I've tried erasing the windows system partition, recreating them with GParted, to no avail. fsck would fail when checking the discs, and I couldn't find the options for checking for bad sectors.
It took me some time to find some info on the correct procedure , but I would have expected to get some hints from your wiki.
