Suggestion: move all files to a dedicated folder

Postby h31 » 08 Jun 2012, 19:53

Hello. Thank you very much for working on SystemRescueCd!
I'm using my USB flash drive not only for rescue tasks but also for file storage. The problem is that SystemRescueCd places all files directly in the root of the flash drive's filesystem. It creates some mess between my files and SystemRescueCd's ones.
So an idea is to move all SystemRescueCd's files to a dedicated folder. For example, Slax uses this method, it creates two folders, "boot" for kernel and syslinux and "slax" for everything else.

You can put sysrcd.dat and sysrcd.md5 in a directory called "sysrcd" and then add the following option on the boot command line:

Code: Select all

subdir=/sysrcd

Thank you! Are there any config file where I can write this option so it will be added automatically? I'm sure that I'll not remember it :)
Also, I noticed some .zip and .html files which are looking as not important. Which files can be removed safety?

There is no file that is automatic added while creating the stick.
Edit the file syslinux/syslinux.cfg manual.

There are many files to remove, but it depends the functions you want to keep.
