I would like to install SysResCD in the HD

Postby martosurf7600 » 28 Jan 2010, 18:44

Hi, a n00b suggestion:

Since I'm finally starting to uncover some of the awesome potential of this incredible recovery/backup distro, I found it would be way lot cool to have SysResCD installed in it's own partition in the hard drive with an entry in GRUB2 to boot it.

This way, every time I need to backup my root partition -for archiving purposes, for trying new soft, etc.- it would be easier and faster to select the menu entry and hit enter than looking for and inserting the CD/DVD and booting from it. At the moment the main use I give SysResCD is for run FSArchiver and backup my Ubuntu ext4 root partition.

Also, an option to make SysResCD to 'remember' boot config options will be definitely a killer. Imagine rebooting the system, selecting SysResCD from the GRUB2 menu, hitting -Enter- and watching how it boots with your predefined options ready to work and even with your own alias/scripts ready to run; let's say you press just one key, hit enter, and your system is backing up, cool!

Thanks for your time, best.
