TrueCrypt 7.1a replacement or include again?

Post by kec » 27 Dec 2015, 02:32

Please include VeraCrypt or re-include TrueCrypt 7.1a.

VeraCrypt appears to be a currently maintained TrueCrypt 7.1a replacement. It is derived from TrueCrypt 7.1a. VeraCrypt home page says it can read/write to previously created TrueCrypt volumes, can convert TrueCrypt volumes to a VeraCrypt volume, and has corrected audit reported deficiencies.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

VeraCrypt is supported by The Open Source Technology Improvement Fund. For what it's worth: https://ostif.org/ostif-supported-projects/

Truecrypt 7.1a is still a great tool. We can consider it obsolete but it works great. Please re-add it to System Rescue Cd. If not for a daily usage maybe for backwards compatibility with already encrypted data.

If you're worried about security issues please refer to Veracrypt. I'd like to see it in SRCd too.
