dont expect to much from this function.

quotation from man page:
ntfsfix is a utility that fixes some common NTFS problems. ntfsfix is NOT a Linux version of chkdsk. It only repairs some fundamental NTFS inconsistencies, resets the NTFS journal file and schedules an NTFS consistency check for the first boot into Windows.

Hi Gernot,

it did help me much better that all the other tools from MS.
It was not possible to boot the system anymore and the usual Recovery Utilities did just say, that there is nothing to repair (because there seemed to be nothing to repair at all).

So ntfsfix was the only solution and did EXACTLY what I expected.

Even if it is not a real replacement for chkdsk, it is the best solution for NTFS at the moment, that System Rescue CD can offer. And it is perhaps the last chance for somebody to get a system fixes, so I would really appreciate to have that simple feature out of the box enabled.
