Can't write to usb stick with usb_inst.sh

Postby boobab » 21 Dec 2014, 00:03

The script identifies my thumb drive and drive is good ( when I mount it it reports its full capacity, about 2 GB ) But when I fire up script, at the first
dialog is says mb=0. Any ideas where to dig? Thanks a lot. Here is a log file:

Installation on /dev/sdd at 2014-12-20_16:47
blockdev: cannot open /dev/sdd: No medium found
usb_inst.sh: error: The device [/dev/sdd] is only 0 MB. It is too small to copy all the files, an USB-stick of at least 512MB is recommended

Here is a little update. Here is what it reports when disk is mounted:

sudo blockdev --getsize64 /dev/sdd
2031091712

When usb disk is unmounted it reports No media found. The same says log:

Installation on /dev/sdd at 2014-12-20_16:47
blockdev: cannot open /dev/sdd: No medium found
usb_inst.sh: error: The device [/dev/sdd] is only 0 MB. It is too small to copy all the files, an USB-stick of at least 512MB is recommended

The cute thing is that usb_inst.sh should be run with usb unmounted. Please clue me in. confused

Used you "eject device" before starting the script?

dmesg show what happen with the device.
