size of sysrcd.dat

Postby txusff » 30 Aug 2014, 06:45

in version 4.3.0 the size of sysrcd.dat is 286MB.

If i do a sysresccd-custom extract followed sysresccd-custom squashfs the new size of the sysrsd.dat is 360MB
I 'm not modified any file at /mnt/custom/customcd/files

WHY?

use you a filesystem which support hard and soft links (e.g. ext234) as temporary storage?
Check also to use the same compression type.

yes , ext4.

I use the script sysresccd-custom with the options extract and squashfs

Note about mksquashfs utility:

in sysresccd v4.3.0 -> squashfs v4.3 (2014-05-12)
in sysresccd v3.0.0 -> squashfs v4.2 (2011-02-28)

I can second your problem.

I tested -comp xz -b 256K
The output of file utility is then equal, but a little size difference stay.

p.s. I don't checked how the new SQF boot.

Ok, this problem is solved. The size of the new SQFS is correct and boots ok.
Now you have to modify the script /usr/sbin/sysrescd-custom in the new version.
