Change Xfce Terminal Emulator Colors Preferences

Hi

My first post so be gentle :-)

Can you please change the default XFCE Terminal colors from Black on Cream to White on Black?

If not, then is there a way I can add an .conf file or .rc file onto my USB drive to load those colors automatically?

Thanks for your help on such a seemingly trivial matter.

:-)

Regards

Paully

You can use a autorun script to change the terminals config file.
Its also possible to work with a backstore file to make all changes persistent.

Third way to make your change is to create a module with the config file.

Hi Gernot

Thanks for your reply :)

OK, I have found out where Terminal keeps its configuration file.

~/.config/Terminal/terminalrc

And, I think the Autorun Script looks easiest to try first...

...so I guess I just have to put my own terminalrc file on the root of the USB stick and write something like this?

Code: Select all

cat >/media/SYSRESC/terminalrc
#!/bin/bash
cp /livemnt/boot/terminalrc /root/.config/Terminal/
exit 0
CTRL+D
Does that look correct?

yes it work if you name the script autorun, but its better to use an editor.
Also a "here document" is a good idea because this work also with the docache option.

autorun

Code: Select all

cat >/root/.config/Terminal/terminalrc << FILEEND

here is the content of the terminalrc file

FILEEND

#dont wait for a keypress
touch /etc/ar_nowait

I would like to further more asking question which is similar to the topic.

What about the menu OR the icon button on the desktop screen?
http://www.sysresccd.org/Screenshots

Is it possible to change menu button size?
It could be X windows / XFCE command question, sorry I not familiar with the basic commands that can change things like display resolution, desktop background image, graphical settings etc...
