NFS booting problem

Postby Moxeh123 » 24 May 2011, 13:02

Hello, i am using version 2.1.1 on an USB.

The problem i am having with NFS is that i can't get it to boot automaticly.
I tried autoruns to restart the pxebootsrv but that didn't work either.

after i start my autorun i get the following message.

_____
Starting the pxe-boot-server
Warning:NetworkManager is already stopped

Creating //var/lib/dhcp/dhcp.leases ... [OK]
starting dhcp ... [OK]

starting tftp ... [OK]

Error: cannot start nfs as rpcbind would not start

Cannot start /etc/init.d/nfs
Error: pxebootsrv failed to start
Caching service dependencies ... [OK]
______

Weird thing is that if i try to start it manually with "/etc/init.d/nfs start" it does work.

Looks like portmap is not started.
I don't know why its not automatic loaded.
It is listed as "need portmap rpc.statd" in /etc/init.d/nfs

Try
/etc/init.d/rpcbind start
before starting the pxebootsvr

Hello, thank you for your reply.

I tried starting rpcbind before the pxebootsrv.
But that gives me the error that it can't start rpc.statd, when i try to start it it doesn't do anything and i can't find anything about it in the logs either.

Do you have any other ideas?

Thank you for your help so far.

I tried it and it looks like the depends ar not working in autorun.
After starting all needed things the bootserver work.

-------------------------
#modify here /etc/conf.d/pxebootsrv or use backstore
#configure the interface
/etc/init.d/NetworkManager stop
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.5

# the sleep make it work
/etc/init.d/rpcbind start
sleep 3
/etc/init.d/rpc.statd start
/etc/init.d/rpc.pipefs start
/etc/init.d/rpc.idmapd start
/etc/init.d/pxebootsrv start
------------------

To debug a autostartscript you can insert a line with "sh" .
You dont get a prompt, but can interactive test commands
"exit" leave this shell.

Hello, sorry for the late reply.

Thank you very much that worked.

I had to change a little bit but the following worked for me.

/etc/init.d/rpcbind start
/etc/init.d/rpc.statd start
/etc/init.d/rpc.idmapd start
/etc/init.d/rpc.pipefs start
/etc/init.d/pxebootsrv start

I had to swap rpc.pipefs and idmapd around, so that idmapd starts before pipefs.

Thanks again. :)
