Can you connect a modem to a wireless adapter then use the internet on your laptop? I'm stuck? I want to use wireless on my laptop but im only using a cable modem. Can I connect a wireless adapter into my cable modem. Then access the internet through wireless in my laptop?

Your question is not clear.
If you want to use sysrcd in a PC to connect a wlanrouter to a cablemodem then "nat" can forward the connection.
-------------
#Mascarade packages from other interfaces ans send them to e.g. eth1
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth1 -j MASQUERADE
#enable foiwarding
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
---------------
Now you can use an other Interfaces IP as gateway for Internet.

But if you want to do this without an PC then its harder and work only with an wlan-router not an other "wireless adapter" and only if its "transparent".

Connect the wlan-router with the networkmanager and access the cablemodfem about e.g. wlan0 like it was connected direct.
Which protocol use your cablemodem?

Yes create a entry for your provider with pppconfig.
Connect with "pon provider"

Use you a USB modem? Check dmesg for the used device.
