Partimage failure during creating image on external USB hdd

Post by wilgefortz » 11 Aug 2010, 16:08

I was trying to make image of my notebook hdd sda1 (sata WDC3200EVT 300 GB) with only Vista
installed (about 15GB space used)
SystemRescueCD x86 1.5.8 is on live USB flash and during start I used only docache option and wizard Xorg

I mounted read only sda1 and my external drive sdb1 with rw (USB Toshiba 1TB, FAT32)

Code: Select all

mount -t ntfs /dev/sda1 /mnt/windows -o ro
mkdir /mnt/extern
mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/extern
mkdir /mnt/extern/image
In partimage I selected sda1 ntfs
image file /mnt/extern/image/HP_8530_vista.gz
>Save partit. in new image> Next
partimage warned me that sda1 is mounted I chosed continue
compression> Gzip
Options> Check partition before
>Enter descripttion
>Automatic split
Continue

The process run well up to about 60 percent (resulting image was greater than 2GB) then partimage crashed
with many lines like this:

Code: Select all

/lib/ld-2.11.2.so bfded000-bfe4d000 rw-p 00000000 00:00 0 [stack]
zsh:abort partimage
Whats wrong?

apparently Partimage crash when reaches 4GB file size limit on x86 system, solution is let the partimage split files.
