reading xp files

Post by bobrock4 » 14 Jul 2009, 08:00

i'm trying to use systemrescuecd because my windows system has been virused. I'm trying to reach files stored on hd to backup them. With systemrescuecd i'm not able to reach those files. Maybe it's a very common anwser for you, but i haven't found any support about it.

Thanks to all

ClamAV is part of the rescuecd, you can do this:
- boot sysresccd
- see what is the device name of your windows using "fsarchiver probe simple"
- mount your windows partition using "ntfs-3g /dev/xxx /mnt/windows"
- run "clamscan -r /mnt/windows"

If you want to update the virus defs, you can configure the internet access first (ethernet or wireless) and then run freshclam.
