In conjunction to this other post from me, I am wondering if the informations provided on the Customization link are usable for the sparc version of rescuecd ?

Is there a special way to follow to add some patches into the kernel or to modify some options of it ?

Basically if you understand the instructions it should work: you have to extract the squashfs (sysrcd.dat) make your changes, recreate it with mksquashfs and recreate the iso image.

Well ...

Having be able to boot RescueCD on an Ultra5 (don't really know why it didn't work during my earlier tries) I didn't apply any patches to the kernel.

Now I come back to another part of the customization : adding my own prackages.
The "Step-04: Add your own packages (optional)" of the "Personalize Howto" indicates that this feature was introduced with SystemRescueCd-1.1.0.
The latest sparc version of the rescuecd being 0.4.0 I guess isn't available. Is it ?

Unfortunately the SPARC edition is not maintained anymore. There are not enough people interested in this edition.
