Wifi Intel N7260

Questions about problems with your hardware. For example, if you the kernel hangs during boot because of an hardware failure or if you have a problem with a driver not working or missing.

Wifi Intel N7260

Postby Gojita02 » 30 Oct 2013, 08:57

Good morning every body,

I've got a new PC, a Sony VAIO PRO 13", with only an Intel N-7260 as network card.
But it's seems tha the ucode for the iwlwifi driver corresponding to my N-7260 cards was not loaded when I done a 'insmod iwlwifi'

A lspci -k does not even show the iwlwifi kernel module.

I search on google, find some articles saying that I should try to compile a 3.11.? kernel.

Is there a systemrescuecd image with such a kernel ?

Thank you very much

At this time there is none.

You might try this one: http://www.sysresccd.org/Sysresccd-manu ... own_kernel

Thank you very much, this is exactly what I was looking for ;)
I Will try this.

Just a question as I'm not really familliar with all those low level stuff.
May I take the config of the running 3.10 kernel and compile the 3.11 with it or not ?

It should be possible. In your root directory you should find something like "kernel-3.4.47-std370-amd64.conf", the existing
kernel configfile.

Using "make oldconfig" (see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4178 ... l-makefile)
you can reuse the old kernel config file, before building the new kernel.

Hello,

Is there any chance that a 3.11 kernel works if the *aufs* patch failed to apply ? (in fact, all patch fail to apply).

I could not post any logs as I do not have network, and the only PC i've got with network have its USB disabled (could not read/write from/to USB device).

Do you have any schedule plan for an upcomming systemrescuecd release with a 3.11 kernel ? Is there any "underground" release/test/beta ?

Is there any chance that if I take iwlwifi source code from 3.11 and copy it to 3.10 ones it will work or not ?

Thank you very much

sysrcd don't work without aufs support.
Maybe you need a matching aufs version from sourceforge.

I ended up just using an Ubuntu 13.10 livecd. It supports the wifi card and lets me chroot. Worked fine.
