Low screen resolution with altker32 [solved]

Postby bruno.taglienti » 04 May 2012, 13:05

If I boot with altker32 my X screen resolution is forced to be 1024x768 instead of 1280x1024,
as it is used to be.
Using xrandr, the graphic card is named DVI-I-1 instead of VGA-1

My graphic card is:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV11 [GeForce2 MX/MX 400] (rev b2)

The card has a traditional VGA connector (no DVI)

tried you to start X via wizard -> mkxconfig?
Sometime its possible to change the resolution with the settings menu.

try "nomodeset vga=ask" at the boot prompt.
The kernel ask for a graphic mode....

I still get 1024x768 with different font aspect. The xrandr output is now different:

xrandr -q
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
Screen 0: minimum 640 x 480, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1024 x 768
default connected 1024x768+0+0 0mm x 0mm
1024x768 0.0*
800x600 0.0
640x480 0.0

I suspect it is a bug/feature of the 3.3.3 kernel for my video card

Thank you for your suggestions.

It seems that systemrescuecd 2.8.0 gives the correct resolution (1280x1024)
Probably the nouveau driver of the kernel 3.4.2 did the job.
