SS20 cheerfully ignores CD

Post in this forum for problems at boot time, if there was no problem for burning the disc. For example can't find the CD, or strange errors when you press enter at the very first prompt.

SS20 cheerfully ignores CD

Postby dalek » 20 May 2009, 15:10

I burned the sparc rescue cd last night and tried to boot my Sparc 20 with it. After I told it "boot cdrom," it indicated it was about to boot from the right device and then just hanged there.

Code: Select all

ok boot cdrom
Boot device: /iommu/sbus/[email protected],400000/[email protected],800000/[email protected],0:d  File and args:

CD drive light never came on and I would not be surprised if the cd did not spool up. Just to be on the safe side, I checked if it thought the cd drive was the one in the machine:

Code: Select all

ok probe-scsi
Target 1
  Unit 0   Disk     FUJITSU MAG3182L SUN18G 11119943538304
Target 3
  Unit 0   Disk     SEAGATE ST39173WC       6244LM202786
                    Copyright (c) 1998 Seagate
                    All rights reserved
Target 6
Unit 0   Removable Read Only device     TOSHIBA XM-4101TASUNSLCD342412/08/94

I burned the image in a CDRW disk; would that be an issue?
