Ultra 5 : Illegal instruction

Post in this forum for problems at boot time, if there was no problem for burning the disc. For example can't find the CD, or strange errors when you press enter at the very first prompt.

Ultra 5 : Illegal instruction

Postby bdcnesfr2 » 20 May 2009, 14:30

Hi,

Having quite good experiences using rescuecd on x86 environments I recently decided to try it on some of the sparc stations hosting critical applications.
On Ultra 5 and Ultra 10 stations and rescuecd v0.4.0 the boot process stops early.

Following are the detailed messages displayed during it :

Code: Select all

boot: rescuecd
Allocated 8 Megs of memory at 0x40000000 for kernel
Loaded kernel version 2.6.22
Loading initial ramdisk (3966375 bytes at 0x1f802000 phys, 0x40c00000 virt) ...
Illegal instruction

And the .registers result

Code: Select all

ok .registers

If someone has any clue on correcting it please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately I don't have my Sun box any more so I can't work on the sparc edition.
