2.0.0 broke pxe booting with image on http

Postby sherpya » 01 Feb 2011, 12:14

Hi, I suspect 2.0.0 busybox is compiled without support for resolver, the initrd is unable to resolve names, it says bad address, even ping something says bad address, same configuration worked on 1.6.x

Many thanks for having reported that problem, it will be fixed in 2.0.1-beta004 soon.

I have still problems somehow with 2.0.1

At home:
vmware via wireless -> udhcpc sends discover packets, but ignores/not receives replies so it loops forever

At office, real machines:
using dodhcp cmdline loops, without it starts and it picks the ip but is unable to resolve internal names (for http server) because it uses 8.8.8.8 and I have dnsmasq instead resolving to internal addresses

this setup worked using 1.6.x

the server is dnsmasq on debian sid v2.57 at home and lenny v2.45
vmware is 7.1.3 with emulated pcnet network adapter bridged to wifi

I have a self made x86 openwrt that uses busybox 1.17.3 on top of 2.6.32.29 that picks the ip flawlessly
I've also tested altkernel
I'm now using boothttp=http://xxx option and dns=x.x.x.x

I have also a box doing this looping.
Using the minishell option and calling udhcpc manual works here without problems.
Get you the correct configuration trying this?

Gernot

p.s. For the loop problem possibly a delay before udhcpc can help to stable the interface after eth-tool and mii-tool.

I've tested modding the initrd and spawning a shell instead, for me udhcpd does not work even calling by hand

Work ifconfig and ping for your networkcard?
