HW detection kernel oops & bug - HP nx5000DU305A#ABB

Post in this forum for problems at boot time, if there was no problem for burning the disc. For example can't find the CD, or strange errors when you press enter at the very first prompt.

HW detection kernel oops & bug - HP nx5000DU305A#ABB

Post by user700512 » 09 Jun 2007, 11:40

SRCD 0.3.3 up to 0.3.6B6
I cannot get SRCD to pass HW detection on this speciffic laptop.
It was only 2 times when it passed by chance after the CPU detection.
The abnormal message was showing an unknown Mouse.
All other attempts to pass after the CPU detection fail with either kernel Oops 0000 [#1], or kernel BUG at kernel/timer.c:407!
It happens after a time delay at init after the following message:
* Detected 1 Intel (R) Pentium(R) processor 1500MHz CPU(s) @ 1495MHz [ ok ]

Thanks, INIT completes succesfully using noload=ipw2100.
Is there a way around, which could let me use the WNIC (Intel 2100) in SRCD?

Try to rmmod and modprobe again, but if the driver crashes, I see no way to use it...

No, 'noload=ipw2100' passed somehow by the time I posted my previous reply, but it was the one and only time. This laptop never passed after the CPU detection again since then.
I can boot SRCD up to 0.3.7 on this specific laptop only with 'nodetect'. Everything else leads to the 1-st case 'Kernel Oops' and 'qdisc_reset+0x2/0x11' in the body of the halt screen.
I have tried 'noload=ipw2100,ohci1394,sbp2,dm-mirror,raid10,tg3' with no effect.

Is it relevant to this case that the 'ide-cs' kernel module is not included? So far in my attempts to start SRCD when I do not put a 'nodetect', there is a message before init that the module is missing.
