exclude interface during bootup

Post by shantanu_gadgil » 24 May 2011, 05:22

Would it be possible to add a parameter to exclude particular network interface(s) (in addition to the 'dodhcp' directive).

This would be useful (and is) when more than one interface is connected to the LAN and we want one-and-only-one interface up!

Q: I know 'noload' might work for different NICS, but if all the NICs are of the same chipset, it wouldn't work, right?!?

Hello Shantanu,
I don't know if this will solve your problem, but I posted a patch (now included in 2.1.0) to allow a list of interfaces in the dodhcp option.
The details are in this thread.
