Systemrescue 2.0.0 64bit network problems

Post by disi » 30 Mar 2011, 18:56

I am about to setup my Sandy Bridge laptop (Sager 8150) and use the default 64bit kernel on the CD.
It picks up an IP address just fine and I can work ahead for about 30min or 1hour, then network fails.
Every host in the local network or outside comes up as network unreachable.

The network card still has it's ip address, route looks fine, resolv.conf looks fine.
So I stopped network manager and ran dhcpcd on eth0, it aquires the carrier but fails to get an IP (timeout).

Reproduceable:
If I try to bring down eth0 (ifconfig eth0 down), the system hangs. No SysRq works or anything, I need to cold reboot.

I am now downloading an older version (1.6.4) and see if this happens again...

No problems with the older version.
This is a Jmicron Gigabit Ethernet adapter...

Looks like a kernel problem.
Have you tested the alternate kernel?
Showes dmesg errormessages?

Hi,

This is rather feedback now, I was able to setup my system with the older version of systemrescue all the way through.
I'll boot the 2.0.0 again when I am back home (stupid work) and give you a dmesg before and after network fails.

cheers,

Disi
