[Solved]Sourceforge difficulties

Postby digifuzzy » 02 Jan 2017, 05:04

I was able to download the previous revision 4.9.0 without any problems.

I received notice about the update of SystemRescueCD to version 4.9.1.

However, no matter what I try Sourceforge downloads no longer work for me. I do not have problems with other download pages with my Firefox browser. I would like to believe the problem is with Sourceforge itself. Do you have any other suggestions or download sources?

Is there a download alternative that does not rely on Sourceforge?

Changing mirrors and direct download link doesn't work for me.
I was hoping it wasn't just a browser issue.

Rather frustrating. I'll try to resolve on my end.

Nothing I could do would enable downloading in the browser. I ended up resorting to command line downloading with wget.
Not thrilled with Sourceforge ideal of "ad revenue". It doesn't make for a friendly user experience.

I would encourage Project Dev's to consider a backup download mechanism.

Problem in this case was a confused mime type handling in Firefox.
Symptoms: Download links for different file types unresponsive.
