i need help burning systemrescuecd (newbie)

Post by yellowbus » 04 Feb 2006, 21:39

when i burn the systemrescuecd, do i just burn it like i burn normal files using nero, or do i use another way to burn systemrescuecd? and if i restart the computer with the burned cd, does it boot automatically like a floppy disk does?

You have to burn it as a bootable CD. If you see the file
sysresccd-whatever.iso on the CD, you did it wrong.

I don't know how to do this in Nero, but I'm pretty sure the
option is available. You want to burn the iso image to the CD
as a bootable CD.

Look for bootable in Nero's help.

The computer will boot from the CD essentially just like it boots
from a floppy. You may have to change the boot order to add
the CD as an option, but most computers are configured to check
the CD before booting the hard disk.

okay, this is what i did (which didn't work).
I used nero under the boot disc creation option
I added sysrescd to burn it
then it asked me for a boot floppy, so i put in a boot floppy i got from bootdisk.com
I burned the cd

Is there something i did wrong? i heard i'm not supposed to be able to see the sysrescd when i open the cd, but i can see it, and when i boot, it doesn't work right

Are you running WindowsXP? If so, download this program and try it.
After it installs, right click on the iso file and select Copy to CD.

Make sure to get the appropriate version for your version of WindowsXP.

If you are not running XP, and are running another version of Windows,
try

http://www.avtlab.ru/scdwriter.zip

Select “Disc” from the top menu bar and “Record ISO Image to Disk”.
Select your ISO file and burn it to the CD.

Both of these free programs work here. I use the isorecorder from Mr.
Feinman very often.
