Between 1.1.0-beta4 and 1.1.0-beta7 have you changed anything about this bug?

I tested 1.1.0-beta4 and now the ALTKER32 set ICH5 IDE controller using ata_piix module (libata), where should be using old piix! The IDE devices are sdb, sdc, etc. The DMA messages didn't appeared.

One more bug... :P

This problem happens only when disk controllers are kernel modules (ALTKER32/64), for what I could see. Maybe is the load order of modules: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+bug/13273 I think ide_core , ide_cd , ide_disk and ide_generic should be loaded after disk contro...

It's definitely a bug.

I tested 1.0.3 with one more machine (Gigabyte 8I865GME-775 -- chipset i865G/ICH5) and the error appeared again with ALTKER32.

If I can help to debug it, please tel me how.

Does 1.0.4 beta have some improvement about this?

I tested 1.0.3 with a ATi Readeon Xpress 200 board (SB400 south bridge) and with an old SiS 730. Both shows this message of error "HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted" with ALTKER32. I think, though, it's not critical, because using "hdparm -i /dev/<device>" the UDMA mode is correctly confi...
