VeraCrypt is supported by The Open Source Technology Improvement Fund. For what it's worth: https://ostif.org/ostif-supported-projects/

Can we get the Midori browser back? [solved]

Maybe it's just me, but I have found NetSurf probably the single browser in my career completely unusable for the most basic tasks I wanted to give it. HTTPS errors and no JavaScript. Which is a major bummer for using something like a web based calculator. While Midori just did the job. Thanks!

Re: HDDerase (DOS) to securely wipe SSDs?

Most ssd support secure erasing with hdparm. It erase in few seconds. Yes. This is what I have written before about it (hdparm): This is a popular article describing how to wipe SSDs under Linux: https://www.thomas-krenn.com/en/wiki/SSD_Secure_Erase Maybe this is your recommended version, but this ...

HDDerase (DOS) to securely wipe SSDs?

I'm not really sure what's your recommendation of securely wipe solid state drives. I opened this text: http://www.system-rescue-cd.org/Sysresccd-manual-en_Secure_Deletion_of_Data Searched for 'ssd' or 'solid' (as in solid state drive), it provided 0 hits. So, maybe the above page does not contain y...

Re: Calculator?

OP here. I use http://web2.0calc.com/ - when there is a working Internet connection. Something similar (graphical) working offline might be interesting. Or something like the the stock windows Calculator or an old style hardware calculator (with similar features). Those memory buttons have a purpose...

Calculator?

This is really a huge miss, I hate using Google's online calculator (for correctly sized SSD partitions), not to mention you are not always online with SystemRescueCD, right?

Something simple like Windows Calculator will suffice, I don't know the alternatives for Linux.

Thank you.

FreeDOS error messages on ThinkPad X60

I got these when I press Enter at the countdown:

Invalid Opcode
or
Interrupt Divide by Zero

However, it works flawlessly on another old HP notebook.

Re: Network?

Thanks for your feedback bagok701. The situation is: with recent versions of SystemRescueCD I am unable to find network on various desktops, laptops and networks, on previous versions it worked like charm. The technical terms you described sounds Chinese to me, sorry, I am really not that technical....

Re: Truecrypt mount system partition

Oh, really? That's good to know. But why command line only? That's interesting.

Anyways, what do you think about TrueCrypt's official policy of not to include TrueCrypt on other bundles, because it may not work properly. Or actually your version passed their criteria of compliance?

Network?

I have not found LAN Internet connection with newer versions of SystemRescueCd. However, I was able to found it with the previous versions. What the problem may be? The same situation on multiple machines and networks.

Re: Truecrypt mount system partition

Is TrueCrypt part of SystemRescueCd? Where is it in the menus? I can't find it.
