ClamAV update

Since SystemRescueCD works very well as a portable virus scanning CD, so I would like to request an update of ClamAV:
WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED!
WARNING: Local version: 0.96.5 Recommended version: 0.97

Thanks a lot in advance,
Joe

I can confirm that it is fixed in sysresccd-1.6.0-beta005.

Thanks!

SOLVED: Truecrypt 7.0

A new version of Truecrypt has been released.

http://www.truecrypt.org/news

It would most likely make sense to update the version in Sysresccd to benefit from the enhancements (sector sizes etc.)

Thanks,
John

SOLVED: fuse kernel module no longer loaded at startup?

I noticed that the fuse kernel module seems no longer to be loaded at startup in 1.6.0-beta002?

Is that intended?
Currently a modprobe fuse has to be issued manually before i.e. mounting volumes with truecrypt.

Thanks,
John

update of cfv (checksum tool)

There is a more recent version of the tool cfv available than the included. It doesn't give these deprecation warnings anymore: /usr/bin/cfv:670: DeprecationWarning: the sha module is deprecated; use the hashlib module instead import sha /usr/bin/cfv:699: DeprecationWarning: the md5 module is deprec...

Re: rebooting with "init 6" not working anymore in 1.5.1-beta3

Well, whatever caused the problem on my end seems to be resolved.
It works again, at least with 1.5.2-beta2.

extended video modes broken in 1.5.1-beta3

The extended video modes are still broken in 1.5.1 on all machines I can test with.

Is really nobody else affected? :-o

SOLVED: rebooting with "init 6" not w. anym. in 1.5.1-beta3

Hi,

previously rebooting with

Code: Select all

init 6
was possible.

Now it stops with
INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel
Is this intended?

Code: Select all

shutdown -nr now
still works, of course.

Thanks,
John

SOLVED: extended video modes broken in 1.5.1-beta3

Hi,

at least on a Notebook with ATI Radeon Mobility X700 the

Code: Select all

vga=0x343
kernel option doesn't work anymore, leading to a plain black screen.

Code: Select all

vga=ask
still lists 343 as a valid value (and it worked before).
80x60 modes etc. still work.

Thanks,
John

Re: firefox shellscript invalid in 1.3.5-beta2

Still broken in 1.3.5-beta5.
By the way: This means also that the Firefox-shortcut in the taskbar doesn't currently work.

SOLVED: firefox shellscript invalid in 1.3.5-beta2

The script
/usr/bin/firefox-bin
contains a call to
/opt/firefox-3.5.6/firefox-3.5.6
instead of
/opt/firefox/firefox
where the browser is really installed.

Edit: unchanged in 1.3.5-beta3

Thanks,
John

P.S.: Happy New Year, by the way ;-)

Re: X.org uses 100% cpu in 1.3.4-beta1

I just tested the beta 9 on my Centrino notebook and indeed, speed seems back at what it has been with 1.3.3. Definitively usable again.
Thank you very much for solving the problem!

Re: X.org uses 100% cpu in 1.3.4-beta1

I can't test it on the Centrino platform before Sunday evening, but I tried it on the i915 desktop. It is still very slow, but at least the CPU load isn't stuck at 100% anymore.
I'll report how it goes with the Notebook on Monday latest.
Thanks for all your efforts!
