Re: Booting SystemRescueCd from the network using NBD device

Hi,

I downloaded the last version (4.0.1). I needed to patch again the initial ramdisk.
Could you include these modifications into the next version (init + binary into initram.igz), please ?

Best regards,

Re: Booting SystemRescueCd from the network using NBD device

Hi, I'll come again for NBD ;) So, the version of nbd-client in the intram is 2.9.... and the package installed in system is nbd-3.2. It is a great enhancement for me, but since version 3.0 Network Block Device has defined an official port (10809 we can find this in /etc/services file) and when new ...

netboot without TFTP server

Hi, It can be practice to boot over network without a TFTP server, when you have more machines to start up for example. We can boot with only a http server and gPXE (gpxelinux.0 or netboot in syrcd) In the dhcpd.conf file you have just to modify the filename option : [...] filename "http://192.168.1...

grub2 pxeboot feature

Hi, The 1.98 version of grub2 works fine, I had bad experience with the version 1.97.1 and 1.97.2, it could provide an alternative to syslinux for preboot environment. Make your pxegrub.0 [email protected] /lib/grub/i386-pc % grub-mkimage -o core.img --prefix="(pxe)/" pxe pxecmd sh linux && cat pxeboot...

Re: nbd NetworkManager incompatible

Hi,

Same if the kernel parameters are modified to stop network manager, sometimes before the stop command display, a thinclient lost his lease.

I think, the NetworkManager daemon launch immediately a request for a new lease.

nbd NetworkManager incompatible

Hi,

Since NetworkManager was introduced in sysresccd (1.5.3 2010-05-03), I must add

Code: Select all

initscript=NetworkManager:stop
in the boot parameters for boot my thinclients.

If NetworkManager start and (imagine) launch a dhclient like my thinclient lost any connection :(

Booting SystemRescueCd from the network using NBD devices

Hi, Well I work with this solution for LTSP servers but also thinclients made with debian... It didn't consume a lot of memory and it light for the network. Tree files are added in the intrd (but present in the squashfs file) : usr/sbin/nbd-client lib/modules/2.6.31.12-std135/kernel/drivers/block/nb...
