Re: Boot problem : Media not found and Could not find CD to boot

I'm still investigating problem, and I've found that parameter:

CONFIG_BLK_DEV_UB

is not set in SRCD 1.5.2 but is set to "y" in 0.3.8.

Problem may be caused by external USB CDROM pocket which I'm using. It seems like mapping USB CDROM to IDE and then to SCSI doesn't work like it worked on SRCD 0.3.8. How can I force SRCD 1.5.2 to recognize my USB CDROM as it was on SRCD 0.3.8? dmesg (1.5.2 - doesn't boot): [ 0.000000] Initializing ...

Re: Boot problem : Media not found and Could not find CD to boot

I've very similar problem. Configuration is P4 on intel 845 chipset + USB CDROM Samsung SH-C522C FW. T03. For some reasons I need to change SRCD from version 0.3.8 (where it works fine - device is sr0), but on newer versions - like 1.5.2 I get message "sysrcd.dat not found" (I've tried all builds fr...

Re: Corrupted boot partition

Try to perform command:

If this not help you try to use Windows Recovery Console.
You can use also Windows PE.

Hello,

Can anyone help me: how to encrypt NTFS partition (with Windows installed on) using tools included on System Rescue CD?
I need Windows to work after such operation... ;)

Is it possible, and if it is, can you provide me with quick guide how to do it? Thanks in advance!

Your question is quite enigmatic...
Ntpass can reset password on locally installed Windows , and also can connect offline Windws installation- so PATH mean path to other Windows installation (other disk, network location or whatever)

If you want to check your MAC address or anyting else just use WMI. It's very handy tool builtin Windows XP. 1. Prepare vbs script which will do all tasks for you (check MAC address or whatever you want). 2. Prepare Windows XP installation with desired changes. 3. Set autologon for administrator. 4....

I don't know if I understood you correctly, but I think that you need to have specially prepared image of Win Xp.

Just add RunOnce VB script to your Windows XP which will do those tasks for you. After that image it and your'e done!

After each restoration, script will be called only once.

/dev/sda <= /dev/sdb --> This means that your target hard disk must have equal capacity or greater than source disk. This is not a command :)
If you acomplished dd command, don't worry about it anymore.

Now your USB stick device propably is /dev/sdc (/dev/sda --> source HDD, /dev/sdb --> target HDD).

If you want to make backup 1:1 just make:

dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb

where:

/dev/sda - your source hard disk
/dev/sdb - your target disk

and

/dev/sda <= /dev/sdb
