encfs - encrypted filesystem in user-space

Hi, I think it would be useful to add EncFS [1], fuse based encrypted filesystem in user-space to SRCd package suite. It allows to encrypt selected directories on any other "normal" file system. From SRCd it would allow to operate on encrypted data in rescue/repair/administrative mode. [1] - http://...

rdiff-backup - software request

Hi, In the change log I see that you decided to add Python to the distribution. It was the main reason why I didn't propose very interesting tool for incremental backup (with preserving "subdirectories, hard links, dev files, permissions, uid/gid ownership, modification times, extended attributes, a...

I just added htop and p7zip for next version. htop is really a nice tool. I think that too. Btw, I don't know why, but there is in "stable" gentoo only version 0.6.2 of htop. It was released almost a half year ago. Current version is 0.6.5. There have been few bugfixes since 0.6.2. Maybe you could ...

Yup, to add it at boot time in customized version.

For swap activation on demand "swapon /dev/hda5" appeared to be enough.

Sorry, for that question, but I haven't earlier used "swap on demend" and I thought. it is much difficult.

Using swap partition

Hi,

Is there simple way in SRCd to "mount" and use swap partition (available on a hard disc) if required?

Two more suggestions. about software. There is a port of 7-zip (compressor with very high compression ratio) for Posix systems - p7zip . Many people use it as a replacement for bzip2 in backup operations. Second tool is htop , which shows informations about system. In my opinion it shows more credib...

Hi again, I tested beta3 on my Athlon with GeForce 2 Ti and laptop AmiloPro with Intel Express 915 and both worked with the X-server. As it was pointed earlier there could be less devices in gparted and in addition primary hard disc should be set by default. Another think (probably to gparted team),...

Hello again, Regarding to fuse (which is available on the package list) and useful software, there are two interesting projects. sshfs (sshfs-fuse) which allow you to mount partition over ssh and use it as a (almost) normal, mounted device (very useful when space is short on a local machine or want ...

Beta2 is released with GParted-0.3.3n new xfsprogs, and dillo web browser. Great, I will check it tomorrow. Browsing available packages I've found that there are also a few network tools (like nmap or tcpdump). I think ngrep (a small tool offering many grep features over the network) would match th...

1) I took the xfsprogs that is marked stable in the gentoo packages. In my recent sysresccd builds the version is 2.8.11. This version has been marked as stable after beta1, but you will have version 2.8.11 in beta2. 2.8.11 will be ok. 4) customizing: maybe the best thing to do is to create binary ...

Feed-back about new 0.3-beta version

* Updated the file-system tools (parted, e2fsprogs, xfsprogs, ...) Regarding to the packages list there is still an old version 2.7.11 of xfsprogs. Current version is 2.8.16. As I mentioned in my post , there is a need for a newer version. Btw, is there a simply way using "personalize SRCd mechanis...

xfsprogs >= 2.8.10 in SystemRescueCD

Hi, Because of the bug in 2.6.17, my XFS filesystem was corrupted. To repair it I need xfsprogs in version 2.8.10 or higher. Unfortunately in SystemRescueCD there is older version. I'm able to compile xfs_repair on my Fedora, but due to big differences between system, binary version doesn't work. SR...
